How did it happen?

About a week ago my husband said "you look really good" - now, after 36 years of marriage - isn't that nice? Especially because in 36 years I don't think he has EVER said that! Ah well, we take what we can get!
Needing a haircut badly I just couldn't decide exactly what I should do. I knew that I would go to Sassoon - the only place that I would have my hair cut but who exactly was going to cut it? My gal - who I really love - has listened to me and because of that my hair has gotten too long (for my comfort) and I really couldn't go downtown - they're located on 18th Street in New York City. So I decided to go to the uptown Sassoon - they just opened a new place on West 56th Street (really nice) because I had a very small window of time. No time to get downtown as I had to get my husband after his doctor's appointment. Post Op appointment and I knew he would be waiting. See, nothing is simple!
So I asked them who should cut my hair and the decision was CLINT - he has been with Sassoon for ten years. I met him and immediately liked him - beautiful blue eyes - dimples and a winning personality.
"Love the length" - "we'll just clean it up - fix it here, fix it there" - "Great" I said - but let's take a little bit off. My hair grows so fast (thank goodness) and I wouldn't have minded if he took off about 3/4 of an inch.
So my hair was washed - love the massage and the Wella shampoo and conditioner really smelled good. Came back to the chair and waited for Clint, who seemed to get lost in the back somewhere.
"OK, we'll start in the back - which is where they always start as the back seems to grow faster than anywhere else on my head - and he's cutting and cutting and working away and I'm sitting there happy as a clam (if in fact, clams are happy). At some point I realized that he "wasn't leaving the length at all" and in fact seemed to have cut off most of my hair. Am I a real dolt that it took me this long to realize this?
"ah - I thought we were leaving the length"
"well, from listening to you, I decided that you were really ready for a change"
"should you have asked me?"

OK - the last thing I never mentioned because I can honestly say I was not unhappy - I did want a change - I couldn't stand looking at myself anymore - I was bored with what is really the perfect haircut for me! After all, there must be a reason I've been wearing my hair like that since I'm about 5! It's what my hair does best! NEVER MESS WITH PERFECTION!

I was not unhappy - my hair felt light and as CLINT put it "sassy".

I got to the doctor's office where my husband was waiting patiently for me - well, after taking the Oxycodon that the doctor suggested he take before the painful appointment - he was in a very calm state. Not calm enough though to tell me how much he loved my NEW DO!

"How could you let them do this to you" - "Didn't I tell you just last week that I loved the way you looked?"

Well, my sassy DO didn't feel so sassy anymore and I really felt like crap!

I told my girls today to please - "not comment" about the new hair do - hopefully it will grow back quickly.

It's just hair - afterall!
